Activities in Action

Fall into Activities!

October is a month we celebrate Pastoral Care Week.  We would like to thank all our pastors for their services here at the Gardens.  We provide church services with St. Ludmila’s Church on the second Tuesday of each month at 2:00pm.  Room to room communion on the fourth Monday of each month in the morning.  Jerry from Home Free Ministries holds his service every Tuesday at 1:30pm and 2:30pm in memory care.

Foodservice Workers week is October 3rd -8th.  Please thank all our Foodservice Workers for all their hard work and dedication.

This month we celebrate all things fall!  Residents will be reminiscing about fall while crafting jack-o-lantern magazine collages, making TP pumpkins, and decorating their own pumpkins.  We can’t wait to enjoy a fall drive to check out the changing of the leaves.  Marci’s Memorables will be here on the 13th to share the legends of Halloween and make a craft with us, don’t miss it!

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department will be here at The Gardens on October 1st at 10:00am in the front lot.  We will tour the truck and have a fall prevention discussion.  Hope to see you all there!

Join us in celebrating Halloween during our happy hour show with Clay the Midnight Rider on October 29th in the piano lounge.  Dress up or come as yourself.

It’s with a heavy heart that I write my final newsletter here at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids.  This has been a very difficult decision to make.  I’m off to begin my next chapter exploring a new career opportunity.  I have learned so much in this position and feel lucky to have been a part of your lives.  I am beyond grateful for all the friendships, laughter, and unforgettable memories we have made together.  I wish everyone the best!  This isn’t goodbye, our paths will cross again!

“There are no goodbyes for us.  Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart”

Best,

Ashley Gerlach

Indian Creek Nature Center made a visit, and we tagged a male & female Monarch.

Soon the Monarch’s will start their migration!
