Welcome to the Self-care corner! Most of you know me as, Bridget the Social Worker, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. My team knows me for being a big advocate for self-care. I believe that we cannot do our best work if we do not take care of ourselves mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. I always encourage my team to take time for themselves whether that be for five minutes in a day or for forty-five minutes in a day. I think the best thing we can give ourselves is time. Take time for you. This is a quick introduction to inform you all that each month I will be giving tips, advice, services, benefits and ideas on self-care for people living at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids, as well as staff members and family members.
Definition of Self-care: Refers to activities and practices that we engage in on a regular basis to reduce stress, maintain and enhance our short-term and long-term health and well-being. Self-care is necessary for your effectiveness and success in honoring your professional and personal commitments.
Stay tuned for next month’s Self-Care Corner benefits for the aging population!
