It’s hard to believe it’s August already, summer is flying by! We’ve been trying to keep our cool inside here at The Gardens. I hate to say it, but I am ready for cooler weather. I would like to plan some more outside entertainment but I think it’s best to wait for some cooler weather so we can enjoy ourselves when outside. The Flipside concert went well other than the heat! I plan on watching the weather and will try to set up an outdoor music event soon.
This month we are celebrating Farm Worker Appreciation Day. Thank you to all the farmers out there for your hard work and dedication! We are going to work on some Kool-Aid Citrus Stamp Art. Although we can’t go to the lake to go fishing, we are going to do an activity about Remembering a Day at the Lake and do some fishing trip exercises. We love our music activities and will be doing an activity on Tony Bennett and easy listening, as well as Remembering Songs of Summer. We are going to get creative and do some Geometric Tape Painting and make Bath Bombs for Self-Care Day. We are going to try a virtual zoo tour too!
It is Alzheimer’s awareness month. We are going to be holding a virtual walk for Alzheimer’s on Saturday, August 29th. Walk to End Alzheimer's won't be a large in-person gathering this year — instead, we invite you to walk in your neighborhood in small teams of friends and family while others in your community do the same. Because we’re all walking and fundraising for the same thing: a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
