Employees of the Month!
Elisha is one of our CNA's in our long-term care facility. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 19th, 1985. She now lives in the area and is a single mom of 3 beautiful kids. She has a set of twins, one boy and one girl. They are 15 years old. She also has another daughter who is 17 years old. The girls attend Washington High School and the boy attends Metro High School.
Elisha's hobbies include reading, writing, and learning.
She has lived in Cedar Rapids since November of 2018
She started working for The Gardens in February of 2019.
Something Elisha would like people to know about her is that, "I'm a good hearted, empathetic person, who enjoys working with people from all walks of life and I take special care for domestic violence survivors."
Our staff says that...
"Elisha is always willing to help out and pick up shifts."
"Elisha has an infectious smile."
"She has helped me learn to be a good CNA."
"She is always in a good mood."
"She genuinely cares about each resident, not just her job. Its been a joy to see a staff member encourage the residents to participate in all they can."
Our residents say...
"She always knocks on the door and introduces herself."
"She takes the time to do the little things for me that makes the big difference. Like shaving me everyday even if it isn't my bath day."
"I like the way she makes me feel, I'm always happy when she is working."
"My room is always so neat when she is working and I make it to activities on time."
Tina is our receptionist and the face of the front desk!
She is always willing to help with anyone and the residents love having her in the lobby to chat with.
She is helpful with directing traffic, answering phones, making us popcorn and coffee, filling the ice cream machine, and is always going above and beyond for anyone.
We are so lunch to have her at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids.
Thank you Elisha and Tina for all that you do!

Gardening Tips from our Master Gardner, Emil
Two Tips About Planting Tomatoes
1.) Use a 10-10-10 fertilizer for better, healthier plants. This will often result in a larger and sweeter tomato. It also helps prevent leaf spots and shriveling of plant leaves.
2.) Keep your tomato plants growing by always using mulch.
Wishing you all a wonderful month!
